Excelsior Empire Regional Volleyball Association Announces Two New Scholarships to Support Student-Athletes and Young Referees
February 3, 2025 – The Excelsior Empire Regional Volleyball Association (XL) is proud to introduce two new scholarship programs aimed at supporting the development and education of dedicated volleyball players and aspiring referees within our community.
Hazel Goldstein Service Award
Named in honor of Hazel Goldstein, a revered figure in our volleyball community known for her unwavering commitment to sportsmanship, leadership, and community service, this award recognizes two high school seniors who exemplify these values. Each recipient will receive a $2,000 scholarship to support their continued education. This award celebrates students who have demonstrated excellence both on and off the court, embodying the spirit of volleyball and community engagement.
Mike McNeil Scholarship
In memory of Mike McNeil, whose passion for volleyball and dedication to officiating left a lasting impact, this scholarship aims to support and inspire two young referees and volleyball enthusiasts aged 18 to 25. Each recipient will be awarded $500 to assist with the purchase of official membership fees and officiating equipment, such as polos, whistles, and flags. This scholarship encourages the next generation of referees to continue Mike’s legacy of sportsmanship and commitment to the game.
