The Excelsior Empire Regional Volleyball Association (Excelsior) is taking steps to ensure that financial barriers don’t keep athletes off the court. The organization has officially opened applications for its Excelsior Volleyball Scholarship Program, a fund dedicated to helping athletes cover the cost of USA Volleyball memberships for the upcoming season.
The scholarship program, which carries a budget of $10,000, is designed to provide financial relief for players and their families. Each scholarship will cover the full $70 membership fee.
“Volleyball should be accessible to every athlete who loves the game,” said Scott Wilhelm, CEO/Commissioner of Excelsior. “This program is our way of making sure that cost isn’t the reason a young player can’t join their team or develop their skills.”
How to Apply
Applications are being accepted from September 1 through October 1. Families are encouraged to apply early, as scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis until the $10,000 budget is fully allocated.

Building Opportunity Through Access
By removing financial barriers, Excelsior hopes to encourage greater participation in volleyball across the region. This initiative supports the association’s mission of making volleyball a sport for everyone, regardless of financial circumstances.
